Apples to Applesauce

And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth
shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land,
and shall know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 34:27

As fall approaches each year, we were blessed to harvest apples from our four trees. Some years there is little harvest and others a bountiful harvest. Despite the drought, this year's harvest is the latter.

We have been enjoying our apple orchard for eleven years. This is the first year of 'mostly' healthy and large apples!

A few years ago, we learned of an easy and simple way to make applesauce. We would like to share this recipe with you!

Step #1: Wash the apples.

Step #2: Core and slice the apples.

Step # 3: Put apples in a roaster (crockpot for smaller batches).

Step #4: Layer with lemon juice, vanilla, and cinnamon.

Step #5: Cover the roaster.

Step #6: Set temperature and timer.

A.  250 degrees for 7 hours.

 B.  300 degrees for 6 hours.

Step #7: Stir periodically.

Step #8: Once it is done cooking......

....place in blender and/or food-processor to puree.

...collect pureed apples in one bowl for easier handling.

Step # 9: Label the lids of jars (or Ziplock bags) while applesauce cools.

Step # 9: Stir mixture then pour applesauce into jars....

....continue cooling.

Step # 10: Place lids on jars and put in freezer for future dinning.

There it is...10 easy steps to great applesauce...enjoy!
